There is no officially established dress code for the Ladies Day, however, the tradition recommends statement dresses for ladies and elegant suits for gentlemen. Fascinators and hats are also traditional elements of the outfit. Yet you are strictly not recommended to wear sports clothes or to invent any fancy fiction dress.

It is not only fun to dress up for races. The most stylish outfits are awarded prizes worth thousands of pounds! For the event of this year, you may follow the hourly updates of Grand National online. Here follows the description of the last year’s Ladies Day.

The most stunning outfits in 2016

Emma Scotton was described by Liverpool Echo as a fairytale princess in her long grey-silver dress with the shimmering top. Her elegant grey fascinator on her long wavy blonde hair accomplished the look.

Another “Lady in pink” stole the show with her bright dress in blue butterflies. Stylish gloves, wide waist belt and a gorgeous fascinator with imitated butterflies sitting all over it were worth seeing. Blue court shoes and handbag made the outfit magnificent.

Holly Holden attracted curious looks by her bright scarlet short dress with long sleeves. High-heeled peep-toes brought her on top of her glamorous look.

The combination of purple and white on Linda Morrison’s lacework dress transmitted elegance and tenderness and made her absolutely different from the rest of the bright-colored glamour dresses.

Bethany Griffiths wore a bright dress with a coloured print of large flowers. That would not make that gorgeous impression without Bethany’s elegant pearl necklace and a smile.

History

Grand National horserace was first held back in 1839 and is yearly held since then in Liverpool. Ladies Day takes place on the day before the first day of the race. It is a beautiful tradition and an opportunity to gain extra money by betting and by showing off the best outfits. Even those who do not win anything remember the event for the rest of their lives. It is worth seeing and participating, indeed.
