FORCE Charity Shop volunteer Jan Liff amid this year's bargains

It’s win, win, win at the FORCE shop this Christmas

Savvy shoppers are turning to charities this winter to beat the cost of living crisis and support their favourites good causes into the bargain.

FORCE Cancer Charity’s shop in Fore Street, Heavitree, has plenty to tempt discerning buyers in the run-up to Christmas.

Shop manager Anna Heard said: “Come and grab your Secret Santa gifts from us but don’t stop there when we have lovely items like cashmere scarves, designer handbags, crystal glasses, jewellery and so much more. You might even find your party outfits for Christmas”

The FORCE shop is open Monday to Saturday 10:30am to 4:00pm.

It is reporting increased footfall and improving sales figures as a growing basket of factors is encouraging shoppers through its doors.

Bargain

There is every incentive to bag a bargain as rising high street and supermarket prices are contributing to increased living costs.

Charity shops are also a sustainable and ethical option for anyone mindful of climate change.

An estimated £140 million worth of clothing is dumped in landfill each year. Reusing and recycling by donating and buying from charity shops means that more than 300,000 fewer tonnes of textiles end up at the tip, reducing greenhouse gasses.

“It’s better for the environment and better for your pocket,” said Anna. “And by keeping it local and choosing FORCE, you are also supporting people in your community dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

“Shoppers can come to us and find really good brands. Why hit the High Street when you might get a designer item, sometimes for under a fiver?

Loyal

“And you get to try things on, removing the hassle of returning an online purchase that doesn’t quite fit.

“We put out new stock every day with items going on to the shop floor first to support regular shoppers from our loyal customer base before they are offered online.

“Every time you come in there’ll be something different to discover.

“There’s a real pride to be felt from getting things from a charity shop. And it’s a triple win – supporting a cause you care about, balancing your budget as the cost of living rises and caring for our planet. What’s not to love!”

The FORCE shop will be open right up until 3:30pm on Christmas Eve.

Regift

You can make room for all the lovely new things you hope to receive at Christmas by donating to FORCE right now.

And if Santa doesn’t bring you exactly what you’d hoped for you can always regift unwanted presents to FORCE when the shop reopens again on Tuesday January 3 at 10:30am.

Donation times at the FORCE shop are Monday to Saturday 10:30am-11:30am, no appointment necessary but a maximum of four bags or boxes per person.
