IKEA has announced the launch of its first-ever IKEA Festival, an exclusive and free event taking place in-stores across the UK, and online.

From Thursday 16th until Sunday 19th September, customers visiting IKEA Exeter can enjoy a whole host of activities and workshops run by IKEA co-workers. The Showroom, Market Hall, ASIS and Circular Hub will all be transformed for the festival period, bringing people together for the world’s biggest celebration of the home.

The festival hopes to inspire customers to enjoy life at home. From wellness rooms to workshops on creating the perfect room set up, the IKEA Festival is a new kind of experience for how to use and spend time in the place we call home. It aims to spark conversation on how to live a more sustainable and affordable life, all while having fun.

In-store Activities

All IKEA stores across the UK will feature a number of activities, with the IKEA Exeter store offering:

  • Behind the scenes room - Co-workers share the process behind creating the perfect roomset, demonstrating their knowledge and interior designer skills to highlight how IKEA showcases the everyday, relatable home in stores.
  • Love your IKEA products for longer - An in-store workshop that teaches customers how to repair, reuse or recycle their most loved IKEA products to give them a new lease of life, and allow them to be loved longer.
  • The Wellness Room - A bookable workshop developed collaboratively with a wellness expert to help customers feel more energised in their day-to-day lives and boost wellness within the home.
  • The Green Room – A pop-up space which celebrates and showcases the positive power of plants across many areas of life, while educating people on sustainable living.
  • Boost your battery digital trail - A digital game for adults and families, customers will be challenged to hunt for the ‘recharge points’ around the store. The game will highlight key products that can help to create a relaxing home and keep us energised throughout the day.

Rosheen Forbes, Commercial Activity & Events Leader at IKEA commented: “After so much time spent at home, we wanted to create an event that brings people together in new but real ways.

By creating open and positive cultural moments of connection through individual passions, talents, and everyday rituals, we’re challenging the festival format with an innovative tone and feel that brings energy into people’s homes and makes life in those four walls better.”

Those unable to make it to the store can tune in to the virtual IKEA festival¹, taking place from 7am BST on Thursday 16th September. Taking place in over 100 homes in more than 50 countries across the world, the free event will feature music artists, chefs, designers and creators.

The IKEA virtual Festival is set in everyday homes and neighbourhoods worldwide, turning living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and gardens into virtual stages for performances and experiences. Join special guests as they open up their homes, with cooking demonstrations from The Pasta Queen and Paul Svensson, performances from musicians MØ and Kanis, and home tours from Virgil Abloh and Ilse Crawford.

To sign up for the in-store festival, simply visit your local store’s events page on www.IKEA.co.uk.

There will also be a plant balls offer, but this can be worked in with the store teams!
