Holiday Fun at The Beacon

More than 300 children and adults enjoyed four family fun days at The Beacon Community Centre during August.

The project was supported by Isca Church with a large team of volunteers helping run the events alongside other local volunteers.

Richard Cummings, community centre manager said:“We recognise that partnership is critical to our success so we worked closely with a number of local organisations and businesses to make it a really exciting and varied programme. I’d like to thank, Folk2Folk, Saladmaster, Love Local Food, FabLab Devon, Exeter Library, Active Devon and Exeter City Football Club for making each day so different and special.

“We loved seeing the kids having a great time, there was lots to do, we appealed to a broad age group and a variety of interests, the children got to try new things, they could play with their friends, and they got a lovely meal at the end. Parents enjoyed playing with Lego and craft, dancing in the disco and playing games outside.

“We’re pleased we’re providing a local place for mums and dads to hang out at a free venue and catch up with each other and play with their children. It was great to see our patio lined with parents enjoying the sunshine and a cuppa.”

The Beacon team is looking forward to a new term and serving local families with the youth and toddler groups starting up again. See thebeaconcentre.org for details.
