Handpick your perfect Christmas tree at Cotley Christmas Tree Farm

Enjoy a magical start to your Christmas festivities with an exciting trip to Cotley Christmas Tree Farm's exclusive choose a tree weekend, providing a glimpse at the farm ahead of the official opening on Saturday 25 November - and the opportunity to handpick your very own homegrown Christmas tree in the field.

"We are so excited to be hosting our first exclusive Cotley Christmas Tree Farm weekend, where families and couples can physically choose the tree they'd like to be cut down, ready for collection at their convenience," says Helen Bowker, owner and farmer at Cotley Christmas Tree Farm.

For the first time on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 November, from 10am to 3pm, be transported to the enchanting Cotley Christmas tree fields by tractor and trailer, where you can wander the 10 acres of idyllic Whimple countryside and select your perfect tree, label it and select your preferred date to collect it. Christmas tree farmer and owner, Lester, will then ensure trees are freshly cut just before collection closer to Christmas.

Delicious hot chocolate and a mince pie to enjoy are all included on the day, with the Christmas farm shop opening its doors this year in the Log Cabin, brimming with decorations and the best of West Country produce to decorate your Christmas table and homes. The booking only event will be just £5 per adult, with up to 2 children per adult for free!

Cotley Christmas Trees have now become a focal point at Christmas for hundreds of homes locally. With each tree taking six to ten years to blossom into a fully grown tree, owners Helen and Lester Bowker nurture their Christmas trees 365 days a year.

As a working farm, Cotley is home to a range of farm animals which people can visit in the barns from Saturday 25 November, with one of the main attractions being the adorable reindeer. With the new addition to the reindeer family celebrating her first birthday this year, Willow and her friends will be there for all to enjoy when choosing your perfect Christmas tree.

"Even though we are a working farm, we still get excited and look forward to the festive season, as it is by far our favourite time of year," continues Helen.

"We are passionate about our farm, the local community and wanted to provide a truly magical Christmas experience for our visitors. We love seeing families return each year to buy their Christmas tree. It's become a key experience for many families locally, and we are thrilled so many people continue to return, making it a family tradition."

Due to the high demand in local Christmas trees, Cotley Christmas Tree Farm opened a new Christmas Tree Barn at Parr's Farm Country Store at Matford Farm, next to the Devon Hotel, in 2014. The location is perfect for city-goers wanting to choose a local Christmas tree close to home, with only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Exeter, opening Friday 1st December.

The annual 'The Night Before Cotley Christmas' evening event will be the official opening of the farm, on Friday 24 November, with tickets soon available. Further activities and events will be announced shortly, to truly enjoy a festive experience at Cotley Christmas Tree Farm.
