Get your boots on and head on to the moor for the Dartmoor Walking Festival 2017. Whether you are an experienced hillwalker or an absolute beginner you are sure to find something to inspire you in the 9 day programme of events running from Saturday 26 August.

Following the successful first Dartmoor Walking Festival in 2016, Moorland Guides have organised the 2017 programme with events running from Saturday 26 August to Sunday 3 September. So come along and enjoy a variety of walks for all abilities, accessible events and taster sessions in other outdoor activities.  As well as experienced Moorland Guides, Dartmoor National Park Rangers are leading walks during the festival and there will also be visits to some of the fascinating archaeological sites in the National Park.

There will be several events running each day, ranging from modest guided strolls and children’s rambles to full day walks and ambitious challenges - there really will be something for everyone!

Last year the festival raised over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation. This year the Search and Rescue Dogs of Dartmoor are the designated charity. The Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team is also supporting the Festival and if you have ever wondered what they do out in the dark when searching for missing walkers then come and join them on an evening exercise to find out more!

The week is only limited by your imagination, so come and explore Dartmoor on your Doorstep and find out more about this incredibly special place.

Copies of the festival programme are available at National Park Visitor Centres or visit www.dartmoorwalkingfestival.co.uk
