Funding success for St Petrock’s thanks to the Big Lottery Fund

Big Lottery funding of nearly £378,000 over four years has been awarded to St Petrock’s, just at a time when Exeter’s charity for people who are homeless is reporting a 29% increase in demand for its services over the last year.

“This is very good news and we are very grateful to the Big Lottery for this award,” said Mel Hartley, Project Manager at St Petrock’s. “It has certainly come at the right time with homeless figures rising and more people struggling to keep a roof over their heads. This funding will support a number of our housing projects and help us to provide a fast response to helping people off the streets.  It will also support our work with ex-offenders, helping to break the cycle of repeat homelessness and re-offending. This doesn’t mean that we’re without funding challenges ahead but it certainly provides some stability to the project for the future”.

“The local area will also benefit from this Big Lottery award as our services will continue to work hard to ensure an increasing number of people who are at risk/or homeless are supported back into the local community thereby reducing the associated costs of homelessness and the additional costs to health, housing and criminal justice services,” added Mel Hartley.
