Firefighters rescue child and elderly woman

Firefighters have today rescued both an elderly woman and young child in two seperate incidents today.

The first incident, at 5.22am, saw an appliance from Honition called to Beats Close, Awliscombe,Honiton after a toddler had become locked in a bathroom.

The child escaped unscathed after fire crews used small tools to gain access to the bathroom.

At 10.11am crews were also called to rescue an elderly woman who had become stuck in a lift.

The incident, which took place at Lower Brook Street, Teignmouth, resulted in two Teignmouth appliances being deployed.

The woman was safely rescued from the lift.
