Exeter site manager recognised as one of the best in the country
A Redrow site manager at St Michael's Meadow has won a top national award for the quality of the homes they’re building in Exeter.
Roy Taylor has won a Pride in the Job award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) for the second consecutive year. This follows his success in 2025 when he achieved the Seal of Excellence in the regional stage of the competition – an accolade awarded to only the top 5% of site managers in the UK.
The awards, often dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry, recognise the very best site managers across the country. Judging is rigorous with assessment across six key areas including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.
In total Barratt Redrow site managers have won 122 Pride in the Job awards this year, more than any other housebuilder. This is the 22nd consecutive year that the company has won more Pride in the Job awards than every other housebuilder, underlining just how important building high quality homes is to Barratt Redrow.
The competition is also at the heart of raising standards in housebuilding, with the awards showcasing the role site managers play in ensuring much needed new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites, and to the highest quality standards. With site managers passing on their skills to their teams and mentoring assistant site managers, the awards help drive up quality standards across the industry.
Ralph Hawkins, managing director for David Wilson Redrow South West said: “These awards demonstrate our long-term commitment to looking after our customers and building high quality homes. They also showcase what it takes to be a top site manager, recognising the hard work from the entire team, including suppliers and contractors. Anyone who buys a home from a site with a Pride in the Job award winner knows their home has been built to the highest standard.”
St Michael's Meadow is a development of 206 three and four bedroom homes, including 61 affordable properties. It is situated within walking distance of Alphington Primary school and is less than three miles away from Exeter city centre, with excellent links to both St David’s Train Station and the M5.
