An Exeter Photographer has been awarded a coveted ‘runner up’ prize in a national photography competition.

Gareth Beynon, 42, from Exeter, has been awarded one of the five ‘runner up’ spots in National Accident Helpline's #FreshStartPhotos competition, along with £50 in Amazon vouchers, with his entry: "The Long Road Ahead".

He said: "Starting out on a new journey with the road stretching ahead of you."

The competition was judged by the editorial team at Photography Monthly Magazine, who said of the entry: "We liked that this image is relatable to anyone that looks at it. It could represent a life choice, a decision or a new beginning.”

Beth Powell, Marketing Director for National Accident Helpline, said: "We understand how meaningful a fresh start can be, and that it can signify different things for different people. We asked entrants to send us a photo which summed up the idea of a 'fresh start'. With a total of 261 entries, we were overwhelmed by the volume, and high quality, of the response.”
