Exeter to Exmouth Bus service, Route 57 is doubled in frequency

Local bus operator Stagecoach South west has announced that the popular route 57 bus service has been doubled in frequency with buses now operating up to every 15 minutes, Monday to Saturday. Route 57 offers frequent and convenient connections between the city of Exeter with Topsham, Lympstone and the popular seaside town of Exmouth.

The new timetable introduced sees the number of buses between Exeter and Exmouth doubled with the Monday to Saturday daytime frequency increased from every 30 minutes up to every 15 minutes, plus a number of additional journeys are introduced during the early morning and evening.

Up to four buses an hour now connect local residents to the office, or place of work in the week and a huge variety of attractions across Exeter, Topsham or Exmouth on the weekend. With quick journey times, customers are able to travel between city and sea for just £2, with all single fares capped until June 30th 2023. Residents of Brixington can also still enjoy buses every 30 minutes into Exmouth.

People across Exeter and Topsham can enjoy a daytrip to Exmouth; with miles of sandy beaches, family, recreational and leisure attractions to visit. Or for the residents of Exmouth, a trip to the Exeter’s high street shops is just 40 minutes away, without the hassle and cost of parking the car.

Plus, for even more reasons to travel by bus, route 57 conveniently departs and arrives at Exeter’s modern Bus Station in the heart of the city centre, for easy onward travel to a variety of destinations across Devon.

Stagecoach South West Managing Director Peter Knight said: ‘I’m delighted to be able to offer this significant enhancement to our service. Route 57 is very popular within our local network, and I’m excited to bring more journey opportunities to residents across this corridor.’

‘The new timetable is designed to offer maximum flexibility with up to 60 journeys in each direction. We hope that with our investment in additional buses each hour, it will be easier for people to opt for car-free travel on their commute or to enjoy a relaxing day out.’

Simon Jupp, Member of Parliament for East Devon, said: “This is really great news for the many communities along the route. Over the last 18 months, I have asked for the Route 57 to return to pre-pandemic levels with services running every 15 minutes. I’m really pleased Stagecoach listened and passengers living on the route between Exmouth & Exeter have their regular service back. There’s good news for people’s pockets too as you can currently get around for £2 as the government has capped the cost of travelling by bus to encourage more of us to get back on board.”
