Exe bridges resurfacing work this weekend

Motorists are being reminded that there will be no access to Bonhay Road from Exe Bridges this weekend (March 23 to March 25) due to resurfacing work.

From 7am Saturday to 6am Monday three lanes of the North Bridge connecting Bonhay Road and Frog Street will be closed.

And In addition, access to Exe Bridges and some adjoining roads will be restricted.

Neither of the bridges will be entirely closed and signed diversions will be in place, but delays should be expected.

This work is being carried over from last weekend, which was cancelled due to high winds.

The work is part of a Devon County Council scheme, which involves reconstructing and resurfacing Exe Bridges and an adjoining section of Alphington Street.

The North and South bridge will also be re-waterproofed beneath the carriageway to maintain the structure, and a number of manhole covers, gully gratings and kerbs will be replaced.

The work started on 4 March 2019 and it is expected to take eight weeks to complete.

However, the work is weather sensitive, and the duration of the scheme may be subject to change.

Weekend lane closures are expected over several weekends. On those weekends, a number of roads will be closed from 7am on Saturday morning through until 6am on Monday morning and signed diversions will be in place.

The roads affected will change over these weekends and further information and traffic management plans are available at https://new.devon.gov.uk/roadsandtransport/traffic-information/roadworks...

The work is weather sensitive, and the timings of the weekend work and duration of the scheme may be subject to change.
