Wool on the Exe is an Exeter based yarn shop with a mission to share the benefits of fibre arts with the community. This summer they are running free community knitting events in Exeter;

World Wide Knit Public Day
at Exeter Central Library
on Saturday 9th June 12pm-3pm

and

The Big Knit Swap
at St Stephens Church
on Saturday 23rd June 10am-2pm

Knitting and crochet are often reported to be good for our health. At Wool on the Exe the emphasis is on knitting, crocheting and creating together for added benefits to wellbeing. The shop was established in 2016 as part of a community interest company. The organisation helps local knitters to knit for good causes, offers low-cost knitting lessons for new knitters and brings knitting to schools, among other activities. Debbie Judd, managing director of Wool on the Exe says; 'We believe that knitting in groups can help combat loneliness, isolation, low self-esteem, and even poor health - in people of all ages. It can also help us to make good things happen in our communities.'

Everyone is welcome to come along to these events, or pop into the shop, located at 2 Okehampton St, Exeter, EX4 1DW, to join in, find out more and get involved.
