Ben Bradshaw re-selected as Labour's parliamentary candidate for Exeter

We are delighted to confirm that Ben Bradshaw has been re-selected as Exeter Labour Party's parliamentary candidate for the next general election, expected in 2015.

A popular and highly experienced and respected member of parliament, Ben has been a dedicated and hard working MP for Exeter for over 16 years, retaining the seat for Labour three times since that triumphant night in May 1997.

Ben's passionate belief in Labour values is matched by his dedication to the city of Exeter and his incredible energy representing constituents and campaigning for the party.

Exeter has grown very positively over the last two decades. Lead by a Labour City Council, Exeter continues to be a beacon in the south west for Labour values of fairness and equality and for our policies for social justice, the environment and sustainable economic growth.

We look forward to campaigning with Ben at the next election, as we seek to return a Labour MP for Exeter for a fifth consecutive time. Together we will continue to work with local people, communities and businesses to serve and develop our great city.

Ben Bradshaw said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been chosen again to fight the next election in Exeter for Labour.

"We’ve achieved a lot in the city in recent years and I believe we can do even more in the future. Working with Exeter’s Labour Council, the business community and others we have managed to keep the city’s economy strong and growing and protect Exeter from the worst ravages of the global recession and this Government’s austerity policies. But many people’s household budgets and vital local services are under severe strain and we need to make sure that everyone benefits from the recovery, not just a few at the top.”
