And they called it Puppy Love…
Exeter is officially the home of the UK’s pet lovers, according to data released by Bark.com, the free online platform for finding professional services.
In a study of nationwide spending habits from Bark.com, just over a quarter of requests made in Exeter and the surrounding areas were for pet-related services, including pet sitting and grooming.
Also included within this were dog walking and dog training, illustrating that people of Exeter are prepared to pay for the well-being of their pets, making it the home for pampered puppies (and cats, birds, etc).
Services around the home have also proved popular among residents, as TV repair, plumbing and carpentry all feature within the top 10.
Perhaps more unusually, other services which featured were personal training, phone/tablet repairing and engraving according to requests placed on the Bark.com platform by customers.
John Oberlin-Harris, Marketing Director at Bark.com said: “This is a really novel set of data and interesting to see that locals in the Exeter area are more focused on the wellbeing of their pets than anything else.
“Bark.com provides customers throughout the country with the ability to find a range of local professionals and tradespeople to get the job done. Clearly the people of Exeter want the best care possible for their beloved pets.
“We make things as easy as possible for both customers and professionals by doing the legwork and it is pleasing to see such demand in this region.”
