In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have found themselves suffering from budgetary constraints. With mass employment spending is at its lowest, and many people have found themselves seeking government aid.  Having a family member's birthday or a special occasion crop up at a time like this is certainly nightmarish. Still, if you have to surprise your partner on a budget, there are ways you can do it that are unique and providing you have a small amount of money afforded to you, you should be able to give them the treat they deserve.

Knowing what to surprise your partner with can certainly be difficult, too. But here are seven ways you can surprise your partner on a budget.

Customized Pillowcases

Customized pillow cases can be a really fantastic way to show your partner that you love them. On the pillowcases, you can write a special message or just their name. This is just one of the many Gift Unicorns couples gift options you can choose from. Getting a customized pillowcase can be a very sweet, kind thing to do for your partner, and they will be reminded of your love for them every single time that they get into bed. You can try not even telling your partner until they go to bed so that when they do, they have a lovely surprise waiting for them!

A Picnic Pack

When you are surprising your partner on a budget, a picnic pack may be the best thing you can do. Have them believe you are going out on a simple walk in the woods, or through the fields, and have the picnic already set up. This is a brilliant way to surprise your partner, and very economical. Be sure to pick a picturesque location and fill the picnic basket with snacks that your partner loves to eat, otherwise you risk irritating them! Nobody wants to sit down at a picnic and watch somebody eat things they hate.

New Clothes

Yes, while new clothes are often considered to be expensive, you can actually pick up cheap, designer clothes, from a designer clothes outlet. For the same price as a jacket from a supermarket's own brand label, you can pick up a designer jacket or item of clothing. If your partner is somewhat of a fashionista, this could be a great way to surprise them and cheer them up.

His and Hers Robe Sets

Perhaps the best gift you could ever give somebody is something comfortable to lounge around the house in. Instead of pyjamas, why don’t you consider buying your partner his or her robe sets, so you can get comfortable together in style? Be sure to get a shade or colour that your partner likes, and make sure you make it a surprise! Don’t just walk into the same room as them and throw it at them and say, “Hey, look what I got you!” Leave it on their pillow or hang it up somewhere they will notice it! Consider having them embroidered, one with your name, one with theirs.

A Night Out, But In!

Another great way to surprise your partner on a budget is to take them out – but in! Consider cooking them a three-course meal of the finest food you can get your hands on. Read the recipes of Michelin star chefs and try to copy the meals for your partner. A romantic dinner at home is a great way to show them that you love them, and food is certainly a way to your partner's heart [providing you don’t burn it!] Find out what their favourite food is and cook it for them, surprise them coming home from work, and make their evening!

An Awkward Photo Album

Rather than a more conventional photo album, consider compiling an awkward photo album for your spouse! Make a compilation of all of your most awkward photographs together and put them in an album for everybody to see!

Photo albums can be a fantastic way to show somebody you love them and to create memories for a lifetime. Now the majority of our memories are saved on the cloud, but the cloud is unstable and could go down at any time, whereas photographs can last a lifetime.

Put the photo album somewhere in the house where you know your partner will discover it and don’t tell them! Give them time to go through it themselves and have a good laugh before you make note of it.

Now you know some ways you can surprise your partner on a budget. Waste no time and make their day! It can be hard living on a budget, and without money things can seem awfully gloomy, so a nice surprise can be a great way to cheer them up and make their day!
