Exeter School succeeded in raising over £6,000 for charity during the autumn term and was placed in the top 1% of donors on the JustGiving website.

The school’s charity fundraising day which took place in September raised over £2,000 for local charity, Hospiscare, as well as the Karen Hill Tribes Trust run by alumnus Will Harnden.

In the Junior School, pupils raised money for Papyrus, the national UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide, Children in Need and the Exeter Foodbank.

Senior School charities included the Tearfund Appeal for Refugees, Balloons, which provides support for bereaved families, Hospiscare, Rethink Mental Illness, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Young Minds, the children’s mental health charity, Christian Aid and the Lord Mayor’s Appeal – Exeter Foundation.

Fundraising activities included a Sixth Form girls’ football match, cake sales, mufti days, collections during the Christmas concert, in the Sixth Form common room and during chapel services and through Junior School lost property.

Pupils, staff and parents succeeded in raising £496.53 for The Movember Foundation which raises funds and awareness around men’s health, placing the school in the top 1% of 287,494 donors on the JustGiving website in December. During November, pupils and staff sported moustaches, home grown and artificial, to show their support for Movember.

Deputy Head Paul Šljivic, who oversees fundraising at Exeter School, said: “It’s a great credit to the pupil-led charity appeals that continue to raise money for local as well as international charities.”
