Exeter entrepreneurs to feature in technology showcase

Student entrepreneurs are hoping to take London by storm at the Accelerating Growth Showcase, being held in London on 27 November to celebrate the 10th anniversary of university enterprise partnership, SETsquared.

CoLinked, the app development company founded by four University of Exeter students who won the 2013 Microsoft Imagine Cup, will be showcasing their latest product at the event. Photo sharing app FlickPic follows their first release, SoundSYNK, and allows users to send images to multiple mobile devices with the flick of a wrist.

CoLinked was formed at a regional heat of the Microsoft Imagine Cup co-ordinated by the University of Exeter Students’ Guild entrepreneur support unit, IGNITE, and facilitated by SETsquared. Four driven, business-minded students found themselves in need of a way to synchronise mobile device speakers. The SoundSYNK app was the result that carried CoLinked to global success in the competition. CoLinked will be among 32 companies previously supported by SETsquared exhibiting their innovations in the packed technology showcase.

In its first year of operation, the Students’ Guild’s IGNITE team has supported many successful start up businesses and social enterprises from Jollie’s Goods, supporting homeless people through sales of luxury socks, to YoungOnes, creating custom onesies and recently successful in securing further funding on Dragons’ Den.

IGNITE Manager Louise Rose says:

“I am delighted to continue working in partnership with SETsquared whose support so far has been invaluable. I’m proud to be working with inspired and ambitious students who are keen to grow a range of ideas whether for business or to tackle a social problem. I look forward to accompanying CoLinked to the Accelerating Growth event and sharing the creativity of Exeter students.”
