The Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust (DPHT) will gallop into 2021 with a fabulous new website making it easier for its valued supporters to keep up to date with and understand the charity’s crucial work in securing the future of native Dartmoor Ponies.

At the core of the charity’s work is its desire to inspire and connect people with Dartmoor’s wildlife, landscape and heritage. To do this, it provides innovative education and conservation opportunities so that everyone can learn more about the plight of moorland ponies, its crucial role in Dartmoor’s ecology and in helping to shape the landscape.

The charity’s founder Dru Butterfield explained: “We’re working hard to achieve a sustainable future for the Dartmoor Pony working with our pony keepers but we also feel that everyone should be able to enjoy the moors, so by providing a range of inspirational and accessible experiences we’re making it fully inclusive for all.

She added: “The work we do at the DPHT is very wide and varied, from our conservation projects with the ponies at Bellever, to our work at our headquarters at Parke where the ponies are used for educational purposes, to Dartmoor ponies being sent all over the country for important conservation projects.

“Our new website makes things so much easier to understand, and clearly sets out everything we do. It’s an incredibly exciting time for the DPHT, with so many great ongoing projects, all with the Dartmoor Pony at their heart.”

The revamped site features an updated look that’s easy to navigate making it much easier for people to see how they can get involved with helping to support Dartmoor Ponies.

It provides visitors, members, partners organisations and fans a much improved resource for easy-to-find information about the DPHT and its work and features stunning photography by the charity’s patron Malcolm Snelgrove providing stunning illustrations of the ponies in their natural habitats.

Opportunities to adopt the ponies are taking centre stage on the new website, including being able to support the whole herd of 25 ponies at Bellever for £75 through the charity’s Gorse Membership.

Individual ponies at the DPHT centre can be adopted for £25 per year, a perfect gift with recipients knowing they are helping to keep Dartmoor Ponies on the moors.

The website also features its free year-round guided walks at Bellever near Postbridge, which can be exclusive to your group or join with others – as long as there are six persons or more.
