Topsham means business this weekend

This weekend people can enjoy a glimpse of what makes a buzzing local town tick as a host of entrepreneurs and artisans take part in the first-ever Topsham Business Fair.

It’s not just an exhibition - visitors can see examples of what the local businesses make and the services they provide, and they can sample food and drink, or even work off those summer holiday pounds by taking part in free Zumba and Bootcamp try-out sessions.

There will be over 20 local businesses on show (full list below) and all are Business Supporters of Love Topsham, the community interest company consisting entirely of volunteers who work to promote all aspects of the town including local groups, shops and entrepreneurs.

“We believe Topsham is one of the few places in the country to emerge from the pandemic with a stronger local economy than before, and this Sunday’s fair is an ideal opportunity for visitors and local residents alike to see evidence of that” explains Paul Berman, a Love Topsham director and the man behind the business fair.

“The town is famous for its independent shops, but there’s also a thriving sector consisting of scores of businesses operating in converted warehouses, sail lofts and home offices. The Dragon’s Den spirit is alive and well in Topsham!” He continues.

There’s an amazing array of business acumen on show next Sunday.

One is a mobile artisan coffee shop operating from a horse box, while another is an artist taking commissions for work inspired by the Exe estuary; several businesses specialise in wellbeing, from massage to fitness through to nutritional help; and there are nationally-acclaimed figures from the world of art and gardening, too.

You’ll also be able to taste the work of a local sustainable caterer, a charcuterie and - especially for the kids - a chocolate party provider, complete with marshmallows!

The event is free and everyone is welcome. It’s on Sunday October 3 at Topsham’s Matthews Hall from 10am to 1pm and more details are on www.lovetopsham.co.uk.
