EDDC agrees £5 annual council tax increase for average Band D property

In line with many other councils across the country, East Devon District Council has agreed to a Council Tax increase. This amounts to a £5 annual Council Tax increase for an average property for 2018/19 to ensure it continues to secure crucial front line services for its residents and businesses.

Holidays are the first things to be cut among those keen to buy a home, according to a survey from Barratt Homes.

The five star housebuilder, which is building homes in Exeter, asked 2,000 people which luxuries they would cut back on in order to save the money needed to make their dream move.

More than a third of those asked (35 per cent) said they would forgo that special trip away, closely followed by 32 per cent, who were brave enough to sacrifice time in the pub, eating out, or visiting the cinema.

Almost 600 homebuyers in Exeter have used Help to Buy with 73 per cent being first time buyers.

As New Homes Fortnight gets underway (February 12-25), latest government figures reveal that 599 people in Exeter have used the scheme since it was launched in April 2013.

East Devon is moving forward with plans to introduce a district-wide chargeable green waste collection service this year.

East Devon households have made a great start to the New Year by recycling a huge 61% of their waste.
