Tenants living in one of East Devon District Council’s block of flats in Cheshire Road, Exmouth will now be greeted by a colourful mural, which has been mounted on the wall of the communal entrance.

The artwork, which was created by several families who attended the East Devon Estate Management team’s Spring fun day, held earlier this year at Bassetts Farm Primary School, has been placed between protective sheets of fire retardant Perspex.

Councillor Jill Elson, East Devon District Council’s Portfolio holder for Sustainable Homes and Communities, said:

“I hope that our residents are as happy as I am with the result. The mural looks wonderful and I know that our housing service is keen to carry out similar projects involving our tenants. I would like to see more artwork like this displayed in all our blocks of flats. The children who were involved in this mural are tremendously proud of their artwork and rightly so! It’s also a great boost for community spirit.”
