Sicily offers many astonishing natural places that you can visit. You can book your holiday villa in Sicily with free-cancellation guarantee.

The Zingaro Nature Reserve

The Zingaro Nature Reserve (Italian: Riserva Naturale orientata dello Zingaro) is located near San Vito lo Capo, or rather after it. Originally, a road was supposed to be built there, but when the citizens protested strongly, the first nature reserve in Sicily was finally established there. After San Vito lo Capo there are just under 13 km along the coast to the nature reserve. There you will find lots of dwarf palm trees, a cave and some very small beaches, which are very popular because of their fantastic turquoise, clean water. Therefore, it can be a bit cramped, or even cramped with parking spaces in front of the entrance to the nature park.

Sicily offers Yummy Food

Beside the sweet life and the dolce farniente (the sweet not doing) the Sicilian cuisine contributes to a successful Sicilian holiday. Starting with the delicious antipasti, which in this country are mostly cold starters, there are many variations in Italy depending on the region. In Italian cuisine, antipasti is simply understood to mean starters, cold or warm. An Italian delicacy that should not be missed, the Italians have truly mastered the art of antipasti.

In Sicily these are usually available for (very!) little money. What you have to pay for is a small or large plate on which you put the antipasti you have chosen yourself. That way you often have enough of the culinary delights. You will also learn from local people how to prepare those dishes by yourself.

The Village of Cefalú

From Palermo in Sicily it is an hour's drive to Cefalù, undoubtedly a very beautiful village in Sicily. There you can climb La Rocca and enjoy a spectacular view. It is easy to imagine how the contrast between the many red roofs and the azure blue sea has inspired many painters. After climbing La Rocca, you can relax on the beach either with or without a delicious splash. La vita è bella in Sicily!

Which sightseeing in the port city of Syracuse in Sicily should one only start with? If you are looking for one of the biggest highlights of Sicily, Syracuse is the right place. You will find one of the largest theatres of Greek origin, a big cathedral, huge catacombs which longer and larger than those in Paris, and much more. From here you can also take a day trip to Noto, a really beautiful place in Sicily and one of the most interesting ones.

By now you have surely seen that there are many bigger temples in Sicily, but Agrigento is really the crowning glory. This is the home of the "Valley of Temples", which is without doubt one of the most important sights of Sicily. There are seven marvelous temples here, which were built all in the Doric style.
