Visiting London over the festive period is one of the best times to view the city. Christmas themed events pop up all over the city and the festive cheer in the people is clearly evident. London is home to some truly brilliant Christmas markets that offer unique, bespoke products. Here we have listed some of the best Christmas markets in London that you must visit if you find yourself in the big smoke at Christmas time. If you’re looking to arrange a visit to London, look for some London apartments that are in proximity to these great Christmas markets.

Leicester Square

For the Christmas season, one of London’s most iconic squares gets the full festive treatment. Over twenty-five stalls fill the square to form a Christmas market, but what really sets Leicester Square apart from other Christmas markets is the inclusion of a Santa Claus Grotto and a Belgian spiegeltent. The kids can enjoy seeing the magical Father Christmas whereas the adults can enjoy the great cabaret and comedy on offer.

Winter Wonderland

Arguably the ultimate attraction of festive themed entertainment, Winter Wonderland is hosted in Hyde Park and most closely resembles a theme park. However, there are two huge Christmas markets to be found inside the venue that host a combined total of over 350 stalls. Winter Wonderland is free to enter so you can choose to just attend the Christmas markets but for some added cash you can enjoy the plethora of other attractions inside that range from ice skating to ice sculpting, fairground rides to circus performances.

Greenwich Market

Find over 150 stalls in a covered market that all falls within a world heritage site. Greenwich market is magical at Christmas time and is the perfect place to buy unique crafts and jewellery. If you find yourself in the area on the 22nd November, attend the children’s Greenwich Lantern Procession and watch Greenwich light up in a festive sparkle as the Christmas lights are switched on.

Christmas by The River

There can be no more picturesque London Christmas experience than Christmas by The River. Filling the Queen’s Walk, over 60 independent market stalls face the great architecture of London such as the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. There is also an ice bar for those who wish to layer up and get adventurous.

Winterville

Relocating to one of the capital’s best green spaces. Winterville can now be found at Clapham Common over the Christmas period. This Christmas ‘town’ offers a plethora of attractions along with a market that boasts independent designers. If sitting down and watching the comedy or movies on offer is not your thing then take yourself over to Winterville’s ice rink, roller disco and crazy golf course.

Visiting London during Christmas is a great experience and offers a unique view of the city that only reveals itself once a year. It can create memories to last a lifetime as well as a lot of mementos you treasure from the great Christmas markets you visited.
