How to Plan Your Next UK Road Trip
Taking a road trip around the UK can be enjoyable. It can give you the chance to meet new people, and explore locations and places you may not have heard of before. To make sure your road trip is a success, you want to invest some time and energy into laying out good travel plans. However, what should these plans focus on, and what should you start thinking about?
Where You Will Visit
Firstly, you are going to want to think about where you are going to visit. Are you going to move across England, or are you wanting to travel around Wales too? When you decide where you will visit, and why, you can then begin to break down the trip into more manageable segments. If you are not establishing where you want to go before you set off, you can end up spending more money than you want to. Plus, you can end up losing valuable driving time too.
Accommodation and Sleeping Arrangements
No matter how short or long your road trip is, you are going to need accommodation. Trying to find bed and breakfasts, and other accommodation locations can be tedious and time-consuming. When you are on the road, you need to look at alternatives. For example, you could look at purchasing a RoofBunk for your car, as this will allow you to make the most of your car and get a good night's sleep (at a low cost). When you know where you will be sleeping each night, you remove the element of doubt and uncertainty. These need to be removed, as they can ruin a road trip.
Budgeting and Daily Costs
Travelling by road can be affordable - it doesn’t have to cost you a small fortune. It is even more affordable when you set out a budget for your whole trip, and then break this down into daily costs/spending. Giving yourself and those you are travelling with a daily allowance or budget can help you spread your money that bit further, and help you get true value for money. When you create a budget, you can then see how many miles you can cover (at a safe and sensible speed). You can also see how much you have left to spend on shopping and sightseeing.
Creating an Itinerary
When you know where you want to go, and what sights you want to see, you can then start creating an itinerary. Whether your UK road trip is lasting you 1 week or longer, you will need an itinerary to get the most out of every day. Without an itinerary, you will find you are spending more. You will also find that you are not using your time or days as efficiently as you could be. When creating an itinerary, look at what you want to achieve within any given day. From here, then break up the days, and try and allocate timeslots for locations and sights. Enjoy your trip.
