From being highly convenient and chock-full of sights, there are lots of good reasons to choose a hotel near Sathorn, Bangkok as your ‘home away from home’ in the City of Angels. Of course, we do not have time to list all the great ways this part of town is the most up-and-coming in the city. So, for now, we limit ourselves to four key points: convenience, attractions, partying and culture. So, without further ado, let’s jump on in and discover why Sathorn is atop most traveler’s hit list.

1] Convenience

The great thing about staying in Sathorn is that it's super convenient. The part of town is exceptionally well-connected. From here you can easily hop aboard the BTS skytrain, MRT metro, BRS bus and Chaophraya River ferry network. It’s also a very easy part of town to navigate on foot, thanks to wide and well-maintained footpaths. This corner of the city is also close to highways that will whisk you to the airport, Eastern Seaboard and beaches beyond in no time at all. And, of course, being Bangkok, there are always dozens of taxis, motorcycles and tuk-tuks on hand to take you where you need to go.

2] Attractions

We certainly cannot list them all as they are so numerous, but some of our favorite things to do in Sathorn are as follows. We love to take an authentic Thai class at Blue Elephant Cooking School; get some fresh air and stretch the legs at Lumphini Park; take a cultural and political tour around M.R. Kukrit’s House; cautiously take selfies and enjoy the panoramic views from the 74th floor of the King Power Mahanakhon Building SkyWalk; view some reptiles up close at the Bangkok Snake Farm; and last but not least, enjoy a sunset cocktail at rooftop Sky Bar (made famous in The Hangover II film).

3] Partying

From sophisticated nightclubs and sumptuous lounges to open-air terraces and panoramic rooftop bars, there are lots of great reasons why Sathorn is the premier party spot in town. Head to Revolucion Cocktail Bar Bangkok on popular Sathorn Soi 10 to find a Latino-themed cocktail bar and Salsa dance club. Not far away on trendy Soi Suan Plu you will find Smalls, a dark and broody club famous for its live jazz and strong drinks. And lastly, for something completely different, head to Tawandang, a 1,600-seat German beer hall and 'musical theatre' venue that is probably unlike anything you have ever seen before!

4] Culture

From the quaint Bangkokian Museum showcasing days gone by in the capital to the striking TCDC building’s display of modern art and the array of colorful street art adorning the walls of back sois in this neighbourhood, there is a lot intrepid culture buffs can scope out to enjoy in Sathorn. A couple of other top sights include the Old Customs House, Kathmandu Photo Gallery, Neilson Hays Library and the Author’s Lounge (Mandarin Oriental Hotel). And do not miss a trip to Lalai Sap Market, to experience shopping and eating like a local. This place is an eclectic mix of shophouses, boutiques, street stalls and mini-malls.
