Researchers from the University of Exeter are seeking participants for a trial into whether certain types of food could prevent depression.

Experiencing depression often goes hand in hand with being overweight. The MoodFood trial will compare different nutritional and lifestyle strategies that might change mood and wellbeing in people with a higher than average body mass index (BMI).

Exeter’s first Yoga for Children classes have now been launched.

There are 4 types of yoga classes designed specifically for children from aged 2 – 16 years old.

Parent and toddler yoga (aged 2-4 years, yoga cubs (3-7) yoga bears (8- 11) and yoga for teenagers from age 12 +. Yoga for children have also set up new innovation family yoga classes where families and children can practice yoga together.

Life expectancy increases

Research published today in The Lancet has shown between 1990-2013 life expectancy in England increased by 5.4 years due to a fall in death rates from cardiovascular disease, stroke and other chronic diseases.

Research published in the British Dental Journal shows that Brush DJ, an app designed to encourage youngsters to adopt and maintain an effective oral health care routine using evidence-based techniques, is effective in its aims.

Brush DJ was launched on the Apple App Store at the end of 2011 and in 2013 it was accepted into the NHS Choices Health Apps Library.
