The UK barista championships held in Birmingham last weekend welcomed competitors from all over the UK where each entrant demonstrated their ‘barista’ skills to a panel of judges.

Steve Pearson from Devon Coffee, in Exeter’s Queen Street, battled against some of the best speciality coffee shops in the country and scored 490 points, placing him 14th on the leader board.

Popular Street Food Market Returns

The re-opening of the popular Street Food Market at Exeter’s Guildhall Shopping Centre has been postponed until Friday 6 March due to the weather.

The market will be open on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then every Friday, Saturday and Sunday thereon-in.

A Devon based cider maker is celebrating its silver jubilee year in style after winning a national retailing award.

The Green Valley Cyder Barn and Ale House retail outlet based at Dart’s Farm at Topsham near Exeter has won the nationally recognized Drinks Retailing Award for Independent Cider Retailer of the Year 2014.

Rod and Tiwa Honour (pictured) are opening a new Thai restaurant in Tiverton.

Thai Home Catering, Bistro and Takeaway at 23 Gold Street will be open on Friday (14 February), and already has tables booked.

The bistro, which can seat up to 32 people, was previously a newsagents. It has been transformed over the last few weeks and is decorated with wallpaper specially sent over from Thailand.
