The popular St George & Dragon pub in Exeter, part of Vintage Inns group, has re-opened this week after benefitting from a stunning makeover.

Devon woman’s love of leeks proves a winner

An East Devon woman has risen to a culinary challenge and beaten 400 other entrants to have her leek recipe chosen as the winner of a national competition.

Alison Thackray (Ally) who lives in Budleigh Salterton, won the competition, run by the British Leek Growers Association, in partnership with parenting website Mumsnet, after submitting her mouth-watering recipe for a cheese and leek soufflé.

Mrs Thackray won £250 in John Lewis vouchers and her receipe will be published online. Five runners up were also chosen to receive copies of Katriona MacGregor’s new cookbook, ‘...

Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink has announced new exhibitors for the 2017 festival as part of its Fresh at the Festival initiative. An all-star line-up of chefs has been confirmed for this year’s Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink including Tom Kerridge who will join festival co-founder Michael Caines MBE in the cookery theatre on the Sunday.

Seven Michelin-starred chefs are among the line-up this year, including Tom Kerridge, Michael Caines MBE, Simon Hulstone, Paul Ainsworth, Michael Wignall, Mark Dodson and Josh Eggleton, alongside a further 30 talented chefs demonstrating. Laithwaite’s wine tasting event at Rougemont Hotel

Laithwaite’s Wine is holding a wine tasting event at the Rougemont Hotel in Exeter on March 25.
