Crave, a well-loved independent restaurant from Exeter, is set to open its second restaurant in Bristol this spring, marking the next chapter for the growing brand.

Founded by Sameer Shetty, Crave opened on Exeter’s Quayside in summer 2024 and quickly built a loyal following for its welcoming atmosphere, all-day menus and focus on flavoursome food enjoyed without fuss. The hot and spicy history of the chilli plant will be on the menu as part of a special hot chocolate-themed event in Exeter.

Chilli peppers are eaten by a quarter of the earth’s population every day. This history of the plant shows the story of migration and social changes around the globe.

University of Exeter researcher William Jaggard – known to his friends as “chilliam” – is an expert on the plant and passionate about its place in cookery and horticulture. He has been asked by the Exeter Seed Bank to be a guardian for the chilli.

Devon cheese-makers have scooped top awards and again gained major recognition at this year’s World Cheese Awards, hosted in Newport.

The biggest ‘cheese-only’ competition in the world received a record-breaking 4,434 entries from 42 countries, as artisan cheeses were delivered by boat, truck, train and plane. The entries were blind-tasted by the most astute palates of cheese experts, food writers and buyers to determine if they were worthy of a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Super Gold award.

Local chef hosting Sunday pop ups at Sidwell Street Cafe in Exeter

Doucet head chef David Knapman will be at The Sidwell Street Cafe in Exeter for three lunches this winter cooking a menu inspired by local produce and local recipes.

After growing up in Devon, David has spent 15 years working in some of the world’s top restaurants, including six years at The Fat Duck and most recently two years in France at the 3-Michelin star Maison Lameloise.

This October welcomes the arrival of a brand new winter dining offer at Michael Caines’ renowned country house hotel, Lympstone Manor.

Available only in the Pool House, non-members and non-resident guests will be able to enjoy a two or three-course lunch overlooking the 11-acre vineyard and the hotel’s outdoor pool with views of the Exe Estuary beyond.
