Cornish Bakery, the independent, founder-driven company first started in Mevagissey, Cornwall, is now open in the Cathedral city of Exeter. The beautiful, design-led new bakery opened in style on Monday 17th November 2025. The company already successfully operates bakeries nearby in Sidmouth, Totnes and Taunton.

Newly refurbished city centre restaurant re-opens for business

City Centre Manager John Harvey carried out an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to open ‘Lloyd’s Kitchen’ with Radio Exe joining in the celebrations.

Formerly known as Lloyd's Café and Bistro located in Catherine Street near Exeter Cathedral, the major refurbishment programme was designed by Ashburton-based architects, Woodford Architecture.

Help with the apple harvest at Killerton’s ‘Big Pick Up’

The orchards at Killerton Estate, near Exeter, are full to bursting this autumn.

On the weekends of 5/6 October and 13/14 October, from 11am until 4pm each day, families are invited to head into the orchard to help collect up apples to be pressed for Killerton’s award-winning cider.

The ‘Big Pick Up’ is a free family activity, with mini wheelbarrows for the children and free cider tasters in the orchard for the adults. There is also an apple quiz and members of Killerton’s countryside team will be on hand to help with the answers.

Free Food Hygiene Awareness training for Exeter's food business operators

Exeter’s food business operators are being given the opportunity to find out how to achieve a top hygiene rating as part of a free course run by Exeter City Council's Environmental Health Services .

The event, on Wednesday 25 September, focuses on the prevention of food poisoning through good hygiene practices such as temperature control and the avoidance of cross-contamination. A local restaurateur is making a major investment to meet the discerning Exeter market. City centre-based Lloyd’s Café and Bistro is re-branding and undergoing a dramatic and high-end refurbishment to create a London-feel restaurant.

Devon Pubs have strong showing at the Great British Pub Awards.

Six pubs from across Devon made the finals of the national awards celebrating an exceptional quality. In an award ceremony tonight hosted by the Inbetweeners ’ Greg Davies, over 100 pubs from across Britain will be vying for awards in 17 categories.
