South West Brewer has an environmentally clean conscience

Exe Valley Brewery, brewing and distributing Real Ales in the South West, is setting a good example to street traders. They have chosen to use eco friendly 'I am not a plastic cup' PLA tumblers from environmental packaging specialist, Biopac, at their pop up pub in Exeter's Guildhall Shopping Centre as part of Exeter Street Food Festival.

PLA Tumblers are made from renewable cornstarch, so the tumbler is 100% compostable and sustainable. They give a clear message about your commitment to the environment and can be disposed of by industrial composting. Both half pint and pint sizes are over-sized, lined, and carry the government approved CE marking.

Mark Brigden, Director at Biopac said, “Our PLA Tumblers offer the same durability and aesthetic appeal as plastic tumblers but are kinder to the environment. They can be composted and broken down completely in less than 12 weeks, compared to conventional plastics which can take 400 years to break down.”
Exe Valley Brewery are members of SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers. Earlier this year, Biopac produced a version of their 'I am not a plastic cup' with the SIBA brand, specifically for use by SIBA members. This is the version Exe Valley Brewery use.

Guy Sheppard, owner of Exe Valley Brewery, said, “We like Biopac's 'I am not a plastic cup' tumblers because they are CE marked and environmentally friendly. We don't have to unduly worry if, when doing an event in a field, any cups are not collected up. We know that any left will safely compost. We also like to support SIBA whose branding we use.”
