Devon based boutique hotel and restaurant, The Salutation Inn, has announced that it will be hosting award-winning Chef Jamie Raftery for a special two-night food and wine experience on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th April.

One of the few chefs to be awarded Gordon Ramsay’s prestigious scholarship, West Ireland born Jamie Raftery has since spent his illustrious career working alongside some of the world’s best chefs, including Michael Caines, Thomas Keller, Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsay and Corey Lee. Jamie is renowned for his unique style of flavoursome, creative cuisine inspired by ancient ayurvedic philosophies and his world travels.

The seven-course discovery menu has been specially crafted for the two-day event and will showcase the finest local seasonal produce alongside exotic superfoods from around the world. Dishes include king trompet ‘scallop’, pea, aubergine bacon and seaweed broth, and ceremonial matcha green tea cake, coconut yoghurt, sesame, goji, amazake.

Having worked together at Gidleigh Park, Chef Director, Tom Williams-Hawkes, is delighted to welcome Jamie into his kitchen. “Amelia and I are excited to offer customers a completely different offering to The Salutation’s usual style of cuisine. Using impeccable ingredients, refined technique and creativity, Jamie has the ability to show the versatility of plant based foods, which we know will blow our guests minds.”

Jamie will be joined by an expert from acclaimed Chateau Maris to guide guests through a carefully chosen biodynamic wine selection to match each dish.
Based in the Languedoc region, Chateau Maris produces fine wines from a 79-acre estate.  The chateau was the first estate in the AOC Minervois La Laviniere region to be fully certified biodynamic. Wine-maker Robert ‘Bertie’ Eden believes wholeheartedly that the holistic, ‘supercharged organic’ approach to biodynamics vinification brings out the true quality of wines.
The menu costs £85 per person, which includes the wine flight. With six newly renovated boutique bedrooms, it’s the perfect excuse to make a long weekend of it and explore the East Devon coast. Room rates at The Salutation Inn starts at £145 for two, including breakfast. Tickets are expected to sell out quickly, so book your space by calling 01392 873060 for bookings.
