Fifth of women 'spy' on their exes

A new survey reveals today that whilst half of women cut all online ties after a breakup and would never contact their ex-partner again, well over a fifth continue to keep an eye on their social network activity under someone else’s or a fake profile. The independent research, carried out by OnePoll on 2,000 women, was commissioned by female-dominated website Pencourage ( www.pencourage.com ); the UK’s only homegrown social network and the world’s first to be completely anonymous (not even staff can identify users). Dubbed the ‘anti-Facebook’ for its salacious, no-holds-barred postings,...

New research commissioned by older people’s charity Anchor, has revealed the South West is a region in denial about ageing.

More South West residents are comfortable asking for a divorce than looking at the care options available in later life.

Despite it being a life changing decision, six out of ten people in the region (60%) have never thought about care options for later life and seven out of ten people (73%) who would trust someone else to make care decisions for them, haven’t talked about their care options with that person.

Fear of losing control seems to be...

Summer events at Lydford Gorge

During the summer holidays, Lydford Gorge has a number of events to tempt children and their families away from their television and computer screens, outside and closer to nature with all the benefits that this brings.

The Lydford Gorge walk is stunning at any time of the year and through the holidays there is also a butterfly trail. This trail is designed to teach people the differences between the butterflies found on Dartmoor, making that learning a fun experience so that everyone can then have a go spotting and naming real butterflies in the wild. There is a prize for all...

Dad's Taxi Service now mums'

Dad's Taxi Service – the famously free lift home regularly exploited by the UK’s teenagers – is now mostly driven by mum, new research has revealed.

Almost six out of 10 rides in ‘Dad’s Taxi’ (58%) are now taken with the nation’s mums at the wheel, according to a UK study by laundry experts Dr Beckmann, which involved a poll of 2,000 mums across their customer database in June 2014.

In fact, despite continuing to be responsible for most of their traditional domestic duties in UK homes, British mums are now taking on more ‘dad’ roles than ever before.

However, to give those without children a respite from busy roads and packed beaches, Arlington aims to become a peaceful refuge for those attempting to escape the crowds.
