Staff and volunteers are preparing for toddlers to take over the Knightshayes for its first ever Toddler Time on Thursday 12 February.

Between 11am and 3pm the National Trust property on the outskirts of Tiverton, is opening its doors to tiny explorers and their families. Each Toddler Time has a seasonal theme, with sensory activities for little ones to enjoy.

This February, the under-fives can discover the wonder of the weather, with messy play activities exploring ice, snow and muddy puddles. Children can take part in crafts, explore the gardens, listen to stories and sing songs. Each activity encourages learning in a fun and interactive way.

The day is made extra special with the help of local Tiverton author Kerstin Muggeridge who will be reading from her new book which has a weather theme. Activities based on the book will take place in the formal garden.

Kerstin said: “I am very excited to be joining the Knightshayes toddler events. For this first one I will be reading my book ‘The Day Granny Took Off’, which will be followed by a fun song and dance version which I hope everyone will join in. I usually run my workshops at Primary schools and am really looking forward to this one in the beautiful settings of Knightshayes.”

This is the first in a series of Toddler Time days happening every three months at Knightshayes. Rachael Hall, Learning and Engagement Officer, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming toddlers to a day especially for the under-fives. Knightshayes is such an exciting place for little ones to explore; we can’t wait to share our place with local pre-schools and toddler groups.”

The cost of the drop-in activity day is £3 per child. Normal admission applies.
