Spooktacular fun this half term with Exeter City FC

With the autumn half term coming up at the end of this month, Exeter City’s Football in the Community team is once again running a range of different holiday courses around the region.

There will be four different football events in Exeter, plus a tennis course, as well as programmes in Dawlish, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Feniton, Crediton, Tiverton, Okehampton, Hatherleigh, Bideford, Ilfracombe, South Molton and Barnstaple.

A two-day course on the astroturf at St Luke’s Science and Sports College kicks off half term in Exeter, starting on Monday 28 October and costing £27 for the two days. A special futsal event for seven to 14 year olds takes place at St James High School on Wednesday 30 October (£12) for children to get a flavour of the game credited by players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as being fundamental to the development of their careers.

A Goalkeepers’ and Strikers’ day is being held at St Luke’s on Thursday 31 October (£15) while Match Day Mania is at St Luke's the following day.

Our first tennis event in the summer holidays was extremely popular (despite our original choice of day being probably one of the only wet ones this summer!) and we are running a second on Friday 1 November on the courts at Cowick Barton Playing Fields from 12-3pm.

“It’s really important to keep kids active during half terms and holidays during the autumn and winter months,” says Scott Walker, sports development officer. “The temptation to stay inside, especially if it’s grey outside, can be overwhelming, but getting out and doing some sport and having fun really lifts the spirits and helps to keep them healthy.”

All events are suitable for boys and girls aged from five to 14 apart from the futsal and tennis, which are for 7 to 14 year olds. The main focus is fun and participation through team and individual games. All courses are delivered by Exeter City’s FA-qualified coaching staff.
