Kids get to explore Devon’s wilder side

A leading Devon charity is offering local children the chance to become the next Chris Packham or Kate Humble. This summer Devon Wildlife Trust is running two weeks of wildlife Discovery Days where kids will learn the skills that will help them become top nature sleuths.

Bookings are being taken now for Discovery Days which will take place at two of the Trust’s wonderful Devon venues. At Wembury Marine Centre, children aged 8 to 11 can book for a week of marine-focussed fun. The event takes place 8.30am-4pm between Monday 5 and Friday 9 August. While at Woodah Farm, near Doddiscombsleigh, parents can book their children into a week of rural wildlife adventures. The event takes place there 8.30am-4pm between Monday 12 and Friday 16 August.

The cost of each week is £150 (£120 to Devon Wildlife Trust members). Places are limited, bookings are being taken now on 01392 279244 and contactus@devonwildlifetrust.org

The events are the idea of Devon Wildlife Trust’s Education Officer Paul Martin who said: ‘After last year’s successful trial of Discovery Days we wanted to extend the opportunity to local wildlife enthusiasts across the county. Summer is often a time when people struggle to find new and interesting things to keep their children busy and entertained. Our Discovery Days will give kids a great introduction to exploring the natural world around them. They promise to be a great way to get children outdoors and having a good time – the perfect alternative to school summer clubs. If people want to learn more then get in touch.’
