City supporters celebrate South American links on Brazil takeover day

St James Park rocked to the beat of a Samba band as Exeter City Football Club celebrated its unique partnership with Brazil this weekend.

The League One club was the first team to ever play the national Brazil side – and thanks to some sterling work by the club’s museum team in uncovering the details of that tour in 1914 – the club celebrates and continues to build on its links.

This Saturday’s match against Bolton Wanderers was designated a Brazilian themed day to commemorate that link – and everything from the matchday music to the food served in hospitality got the South...

Grecians claim all three points with late winner

Nicky Law's late winner helped Exeter City to a 3-2 win over Morecambe at the Globe Arena in Sky Bet League Two.

City took a two-goal lead through Jake Taylor and Lee Martin before the home side rallied to draw level with two goals from substitute Lewis Alessandra, but Law was on hand to finish in the 85th minute to secure the win.

Manager Matt Taylor made just two changes to the starting XI following the 0-0 draw with Oldham as captain Taylor made a return from injury, as did Randell Williams, with the Grecians looking to build on their positive start to the season....

A late goal from Eion Doyle prevented Exeter City from maintaining their perfect start to the season in a 1-1 draw at home to Swindon Town.

The Grecians took the lead midway through the second half as Matt Jay superbly diverted a Lee Martin shot past Luke McCormick. Jay was also denied a second moments later when his volley, from a half-cleared corner, was blocked by one of his teammates on the edge of the six-yard box so it was a bitter blow when Swindon equalised with three minutes left.

Exeter City exited the Carabao Cup at the first round stage with a 4-1 defeat at St Andrew's against Coventry City.

An early goal from Jordy Hiwula, a header from Matt Godden, and a second from Hiwula took the game away from the Grecians in the first half as the hosts raced into a lead.

City pulled one back through Pierce Sweeney midway through the second period before substitute Amadou Bakayoko headed home late on.

A stunning strike late strike from Nicky Law kept Exeter City’s 100 per cent start to the season going as they recorded a 1-0 win away at Stevenage.

The Grecians had created the better chances throughout the match and had built up a head of steam in the closing stages when a half cleared corner found Law on the edge of the box and he hit a sweet volley, with the outside of his boot, into the bottom corner.

Just as UK gambling sites predicted, Exeter City picked the first win of their 2019/20 campaign with a 1-0 win over Macclesfield Town on the opening day of the season.

Noah Smerdon signs for Exeter City with help of 1931 Fund

Noah Smerdon is delighted to have secured a move to Exeter City after the 1931 Fund helped provide an undisclosed fee to West Bromwich Albion for the youngster.

The 18-year-old spent time with the Baggies within their youth setup but departed the Hawthorns and joined Gloucester City in 2017.

For their part in Noah’s development West Brom are entitled to a fee for the youngster upon his move St James Park, andwith the help of the 1931 Fund, the club have been able to acquire the services of the defender.

Nicky Ajose says he is hungry to score goals having signed for Exeter City.

The 27-year-old striker, who last season was promoted from League One with Charlton Athletic as well as helping Mansfield to the League Two play-offs, put pen to paper on a deal at St James Park following a successful meeting with manager Matt Taylor.

Jonny Maxted says it was the ambition shown by manager Matt Taylor that helped convince him to sign for Exeter City.

The 25-year-old will officially join Exeter City on July 1, but could play for the Grecians this evening in our pre-season friendly with Jersey, if approval is granted from his current club Accrington Stanley.

Jonny came through the ranks with Doncaster Rovers and has spent time with the likes of Forest Green Rovers and Guiseley. Last season he played 26 times for Stanley as he helped them to secure another season in the third tier of English football....
