Bellacappella Presents: The Bellacappella Songbook - A Gala Night of Music and Community

Local choir Bellacappella invites you to an unforgettable evening of live harmony at Winslade Park, as they present The Bellacappella Songbook, a special gala performance in aid of the national charity Music for All.

Doors open at 7pm, with the performance beginning at 7.30pm. Audiences can expect a joyful, diverse mix of songs - from pop classics to soulful ballads - all performed with the warmth and spirit that define this community choir.

Re-viewing Exeter in moving pictures

As part of an innovative digital art and performance project, a series of new short films about Exeter are being released in weekly episodes on screens across the city as well as online. The micro-documentaries ­– 12 in total ­ have been created by filmmaker David Salas and are based on the experiences and memories of Exeter residents.

Divided into two strands ­– A Tale of Two Cities and The Potential for Important Moments to Occur in Non-Descript Places – the documentaries focus on unknown aspects of the city and bring to light the personal experiences of some of its residents....

Oxjam Exeter 2013 Announces Artists for Takeover Weekend

Oxjam Exeter has announced some of the artists that will be performing live at venues across Exeter during the Oxjam Exeter Takeover weekend, taking place on 19 and 20 October 2013.

Confirmed artists include:

• Alex Gregory - Nominated for ‘Best Acoustic Act’ at the South West Music Awards.

• Hannah Berney - Starred on the BBC1 show ‘The Voice’

The city of Edinburgh may be in the midst of holding their annual Fringe Festival, but not to be outdone, Exeter were able to offer its own mini-fringe to local residents in the form of four boys performing their one-man shows in the Hourglass pub over six evenings last week. The title ‘Here Come The Boys’ may suggest that the participants would be removing their clothes, but I can report that no baring of flesh occurred. Sorry Ladies. Local art goes to The Mall

The work of one of the artists featured in last year’s Local Art Show has been selected for an exhibition at the Mall Galleries in Central London and is in the running for the £30,000 Threadneedle Prize.

A book of etchings by Christow-based artist Jude Freeman was selected from over three and a half thousand works; several of the etchings were first displayed at The Royal Albert Memorial Musuem.

The exhibition runs from Wednesday 25 September to Saturday 12 October 2013, the shortlist for the award will be announced on Thursday 15 August and the winner announced on Tuesday...

The Celtic Media Festival returns for the 35th year running as major international festival.

The festival will take place on 2 April 2014 for three days in the scenic seaside town of St Ives. It aims to promote the distinctive language and culture of the Celtic regions on screen, and is expected to attract over 300 delegates.
