Free Cider and Summer Tunes Come to Devon with a Music Series from Thatchers Cider

Free pints, live music and summer vibes

Thatchers is set to delight music and cider fans heading into venues and pubs across the summer with a national 40+ gig series that will visit Devon throughout August.

A mix of Juicy Sounds DJ nights and Summer Sessions acoustic evenings will be held to celebrate what promises to be a summer filled, not just with sport, but with music too.

Events are currently planned for:

Seth Lakeman to perform at HMV in Exeter

Mercury Music Prize nominee and Devon born Folk singer/songwriter Seth Lakeman will be visiting HMV in Exeter on Friday 7 February to celebrate the release of his new album Word of Mouth.

Recorded in a Cornish Church, Word of Mouth showcases Seth's skill as a storyteller while the dramatic and melodic sound cements his status as a figurehead of contemporary British Folk.

Making a name for himself in the UK Folk scene and beyond since his teens, Seth has been honoured with both the best album and singer of the year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Elkie Brooks has pulled out of tonight’s concert at Exeter Corn Exchange due to illness.

The concert, which was sold out, has been rescheduled for Saturday 26 April 2014.

Local singer songwriter Charlotte Ward, who supported X Factor finalist Luke Friend and The Voice quarter finalist Adam Issac last Friday night at the Exeter Phoenix, gets her own shot at making talent show history tomorrow.

Charlotte is travelling to Birmingham National Exhibition Centre to compete in the national finals of the prestigious talent show Open Mic UK.

Described at “one of the toughest competitions in the country” it has been previously been the launch pad for artists such as Birdy, Lucy Spraggan and Hattie Keane.

Tiverton may not the seem like the obvious place to launch a stage career but Tiverton Community Arts Theatre have persuaded Glenn Cosby, the only local contestant on this year's Great British Bake Off, to share some stories about being on the show. And of course, to share some very big cakes.

Staff and members of a newly formed youth panel are thrilled that their plan for a ‘Museums at Night’ event at Castle Drogo has been successfully short listed. The race is now on as the public vote opens to win mixed media artist and musician Fred Deakin to host the after-hours event in May 2014, at which local young people will be invited to experience Castle Drogo as never before.

Teignmouth lad Luke Friend and Scotland’s Nicholas McDonald will join forces for a one-off gig at Torquay’s Riviera Centre this Saturday 18 January.

This is the first time Luke and Nicholas, who came third and second on The X Factor respectively, will have shared the stage since the show ended in December last year.
