RIP BBC3?

On Thursday 6th March the BBC announced their plans to close BBC3 as a broadcast TV Channel as of 2015.

If the proposals are accepted by the BBC Trust BBC3, which is home to popular shows such as Don’t Tell the Bride and Russell Howard’s Good News, will become an online only service.

The BBC claim this change to the BBC3’s format will save them 50 million pounds a year and also enable them to put more money behind drama programmes on BBC1.

The proposals have caused a public outcry. Petitions have been set up to stop the closure, with celebrities such as David...

Drawing the predictable melange of charity shop jumpers and Doc Martens, Bombay Bicycle Club took centre stage at the Great Hall playing a sold out set in the halfway leg of their UK tour. Swept there on a compelling tide of nostalgia and elated on expectations of £23 tickets, that were needless to say; high.

The band have received heady mainstream success from album number four ‘So Long, See You Tomorrow’ with singles such as ‘Luna’ gracing the airwaves of the daytime Radio One playlist.

The set was a notch up in professionalism from the 2010 post ‘had the blues’ relative...

Manic Chord Theatre's production of 'After What Comes Before' at the Bike Shed Theatre last Monday (17th March), was a real treat for the senses, leaving the audience in fits of laughter from start to finish.

The story follows a Neuroscientist, Psychologist and Physicist as they try to create a machine which can extract thoughts. Highly energetic and playful, the company submerged the audience in a mad world of Quantum partying, flying cashew nuts and absurd game play. Surprising twists in the tale kept our attention firmly on the three confident young men on stage as they took us...
