Concert will raise funds for Seaton Jurassic

A group of conservation volunteers have teamed up with a local choir to raise funds for a planned new Jurassic Coast visitor centre.

Volunteers from Devon Wildlife Trust’s East Devon Local Group have come together with the musical talents of Axe Valley Community Choir to stage ‘A Midsummer Concert’ on Saturday 14 June, 7.30pm, at Offwell Village Hall, near Honiton. Velveteen Clothes Emporium is back

Velveteen Clothes Emporium, which previously specialised in steampunk and gothic fashion, is back as an Exeter store, with even more to offer than before.

Up until Saturday 5 April fans of Velveteen would have to pay a visit to the businesses’ big Red wagon to make a purchase, which would pop up in various Devon locations.

Critically acclaimed play to tour the West Country

From Common Players, in association with Exeter Northcott Theatre, a new production of Jez Butterworth’s critically acclaimed play, Jerusalem, will tour the WestCountry in May and June. The new production will be made in a new way which will involve local artists and communities and teach new skills to those involved.

First performed in 2009, Jerusalem became the Evening Standard’s Best Play of the Year and is an epic and heroic play about our great British need for a connection with the landscape and our roots; an underpinning theme of the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.

Sixteen-year-old singer-songwriter Holly Morwenna from Kenton has been given the big thumbs up yet again by judges of TeenStar.

Along with other impressive acts, Holly will be performing at the area finals of the UK’s only teen singing competition at Ferneham Hall, Fareham, Hampshire on Saturday 10 May.

A small market town on the edge of Dartmoor will become the focus for some of the best contemporary craft in the country this June. The Contemporary Craft Festival at Bovey Tracey is one of the key events in the national crafts calendar.
