Pawesome day out with pen farthing

Looking for the perfect way to round off the summer holidays? Head to Pawesome Day Out, a lively, family-friendly charity event on Sunday 31st August from 12pm at St Martin’s Football Club, Exminster—where fun, food, and four-legged friends take centre stage!

Organised by Claudia Pinn of Claudia’s Canines and the UK–Sri Lanka-based charity Lucas Helps Dogs, this event aims to raise vital funds for street animals in Sri Lanka. Star Wars YODA creator at Devon festival

Wendy Froud, best known as the creator of the iconic YODA from Star Wars, will be at the legendary Chagford Film Festival on Thursday 25th September teaching puppet-making as part of a unique Froud day.

Sky dive record attempt fun day

Devon- and Cornwall-based charity, Pete’s Dragons is set to embark on its biggest fund raising event yet - a record of 60 sky dives from 15,000 feet and falling at around 135mph - raising money for Cornwall Search & Rescue and The Samaritans.

But to get these adrenaline junkies as far as Dunkerswell Aerodrome, they need to raise vital funds to get the campaign kick-started. Exeter Barnfield Theatre announce the programme for September

10-13 September- Exeter Little Theatre Company presents Michael Frayn’s Noises Off. From a disastrous dress rehearsal, a sleep-deprived touring company of actors perform their fictional farce, Nothing On. Creative youngsters began their two-week intensive Summer School at the Exeter Northcott Theatre last week. From 18 – 30 August participants, aged between 12 and 19, will be working with Polly Agg-Manning, Exeter Northcott Theatre’s Associate Director for ENGAGE, and a skilled team at the Exeter Northcott to develop a professional piece of theatre, Just So, which will culminate in a performance at the theatre on Saturday 30 August.

Military historian and author of the series of historical adventures of Matthew Hervey, Allan Mallinson, is the latest author to join the line-up for this year’s Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival to mark the centenary of World War One.

Allan, who is also a defence commentator for The Times and writes a monthly chronicle of the First World War, will be talking about his latest book 1914: Fight the Good Fight. Praised for its accuracy and insight, 1914 tells the story of Britain, the Army and the Coming of the Great War.
