A fascinating and unusual new artwork has been added to the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus, in the form of a sculpture wound around the branch of a tree and suspended in mid-air. The sculpture, entitled White Entwined, was created by Devon artist Deborah Duffin. Organic in shape, it hangs from the tree like huge exotic flower, fading from pink to white and is made from a multitude of wire collected over many years. Duffin often uses recycled materials in her work and observes the natural world to inform her creative process. The explanation for her interest in creating a sculpture...

Jim Davidson brings his new show No Further Action to Exeter in January.

In this interview the comedian tells Chrissy Iley about his turbulent year.

I have just read Jim Davidson’s book No Further Action. It’s about his annus horribilis in 2013. It started off with his beloved dog Benji dying and him being arrested at Heathrow before he went into the 2013 Celebrity Big Brother House.

Operation Yewtree was extending its branches far and wide. Davidson spent a year fighting the claims against him to prove his innocence. The book is raw, shockingly vulnerable and...

While the Gothic was associated with the supernatural, it was predominantly a theory of English progress rooted in Anglo Saxon and medieval history. In Professor Nick Groom’s introduction, he explores the novel's...

They could be amateur or professional, well funded or on a shoestring, treading the boards in theatres, arts centres or village halls. The common purpose is to entertain people,...
