Exeter Northcott to stage Daphne du Maurier's Secret Lives

Exeter Northcott Theatre has revealed they will stage the world premiere of ' Daphne ' by South-West writer, Rosie Race.

Exeter to get its own Monopoly edition

Since the beginning of last month the public has been voting in their many thousands for one of the West Country’s five capital cities to have their very own MONOPOLY for this year.

And Exeter has emerged triumphant, with the announcement being made today at Exeter’s Guildhall.

Devon’s capital city saw off the capitals of Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire in the poll.

Exeter commanded 34.3% of the vote ahead of Dorchester (26.1%), Taunton (15.3%); Trowbridge (14.7%) and Truro (9.6%).

Now the public will get to vote all over again over a one week...

This was a challenging and thought provoking performance piece exploring confirmation-bias, our tendency to ignore evidence that does not fit our predefined views, and the writer/performer Chris Thorpe’s experiment to see if he could overcome his own bias.

He started the show with a bit of the science, using numbers to illustrate before moving on to Donald Rumsfeld’s notorious speech about “unknown, unknowns” – does this confirm to us how dumb the neocon presidency was or was it actually a brilliant encapsulation of the threats we face?

A play with difference premiers in Exmouth

Local playwright Clive Essame has seen his play ‘Impisi’ performed by CEDA at the Exmouth Pavilion.

The cast, playwright Clive and director Anthony Richards worked together to put on a spectacular performance of the play ‘Impisi’ which is set in the African wilderness at Exmouth Pavilion.

The performance told the heartwarming story of a lion who became injured, the lion has to overcome his disability and learn to hunt again. Despite being mocked and teased by some of the animals the lion makes an unlikely ally with a hyena who helps him to accept his difference.

Buddy Bear from Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park joined other Mascots at Sandy Park for some half time fun and frivolity during the Exeter Chiefs v London Welsh rugby match.

Musicians from the Exeter Symphony Orchestra hit a high note with pupils when they attended music lessons at Ladysmith Junior School.

The visit was part of an effort to bring to life the BBC’s Ten Pieces Project.

The local musicians volunteered their services after the orchestra was approached by teacher Kathy Rowden who said: “The Exeter Symphony Orchestra members helped the children understand more about how musicians have to work as team and that each instrument has different qualities and roles within the orchestra.”
