From the opening notes of the community choral day to the uplifting finale of the London African Gospel Choir, Budleigh Music Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary in style.

Record crowds attend Dartmoor Folk Festival

A resurgence in the popularity of folk music, song, dance and crafts resulted in record crowds attending the 38th Dartmoor Folk Festival at the weekend.

Local and national artists entertained audiences at the event held at South Zeal, near Okehampton.

The festival included concerts, dances, a Dartmoor Fayre, a ceilidh, folk service, craft displays, music hall, pub sessions, a ramble on Dartmoor and music, song and dance workshops.

Treat for sheep shearing and dog trials fans

Fans of sheep shearing can enjoy a day of trials and competitions on a Devon farm on Saturday (August 15). Organisers of the Devon County Show are hosting the annual Lamb Shearing at Sidbury, near Sidmouth. Romance blossomed when Willy Wonka met Witch, Granny Weatherwax on the Cathedral Green.

The drama happened as witches, a baddie, a warrior and a ghostly king were enjoying a spot of sighting around the city, posing outside the romantic House that Moved and the atmospheric Stepcote Hill, before arriving in the calm oasis of the Cathedral Green.
