Remember A Day

As I type, Glastonbury 2025 is well underway. Many of the acts are ones we have never heard of, though the younger generation certainly have, and they will experience the elation of seeing and hearing their music favourites in that iconic setting.

Through the years, each summer's youthful attendees will have had similar joy etched into their memories as they witnessed their idols in action on the stage.

The artistes who appear at Glastonbury who have been around for years are also received rapturously, perhaps because they are so respected and revered. I have often wondered...

Nationwide search for Lost Songs launches

The Lost Songs campaign aims to seek out the very best songs that have been written but never published or recorded, thus running the risk of being “lost”.

The competition organisers are appealing to any songwriter, young or old, who has penned a song that has never been brought to the attention of the public. This could be your chance to let that song be heard by a national audience.

The Lost Songs concept was the brainchild of Ticking Tree’s songwriter ADMAN, who says, “I’ve been thinking for a while that there must be a plethora of beautiful songs that have been...

REVIEW: The Shires at Exeter Phoenix

Review and photograph by: Helena Gadsby

I can’t say I’m a big fan of country music. Ask me about the genre, and I could probably mention a Dolly Parton song; the names Hunter Hayes and Lady Antebellum vaguely register in my mind. My knowledge, however, stops there. So, on entering Exeter Pheonix, I had no idea what to expect from The Shires.

The opening act, Jonathan Jeremiah, was a singer-songwriter. On researching the man after the concert, I was surprised to learn he had a record deal with Island Record. Whist his songs were lyrically unimpressive (and sometimes far too...
