Llamas, sheep and a donkey will join actors to recreate the Nativity live on stage at Exeter Cathedral on Sunday.

The story will be told in five short 'family friendly' scenes, along with favourite Christmas Carols at the Cathedral on Sunday 13th December at 2pm.

Children are invited to come dressed in Christmas costumes and join Mary and Joseph, a donkey, the sheep, llamas and angels and form a giant 'tableau' inside, creating a wonderful Christmas scene.

Revd Canon Anna Norman Walker, who organises the Exeter Nativity with the support of churches throughout the city said: "This is a wonderful way of making the story of the first Christmas come to life for children and adults alike; the performance is laced with humour but nothing of the wonder of the Christmas message is lost.

"At a time when the world is a troubled place it is easy to get lost in the material aspects of Christmas and this is the perfect way to be reminded of the message of God's love for the world "

"We shall be taking a collection for The Save the Children Fund's work with the unaccompanied orphans of the current Refugee Crisis."

Local farmers are bringing their donkey and sheep and the llamas come from Peak Hill Llamas, near Sidmouth.

Admission is free.
