Remember A Day

As I type, Glastonbury 2025 is well underway. Many of the acts are ones we have never heard of, though the younger generation certainly have, and they will experience the elation of seeing and hearing their music favourites in that iconic setting.

Through the years, each summer's youthful attendees will have had similar joy etched into their memories as they witnessed their idols in action on the stage.

The artistes who appear at Glastonbury who have been around for years are also received rapturously, perhaps because they are so respected and revered. I have often wondered...

He is one of the most recognisable, most decorated and bestselling British artists of all time, and once again Elton John will perform on British shores, having announced a string of huge dates in June next year – including a very special show at Westpoint Exeter on June 19th.

Elton will, as part of these dates, bring his world-renowned live band show to Exeter on June 19th, in what will be a truly unique and special event – he has only performed in Exeter twice before, once in 1973 and once in 2003 solo. So it is over 40 years since Elton and his band have performed in Exeter....

BLOG: Student Life #3

University lecturers never seem to stop talking about the RAMM and for everyone’s first term of university, it’s commonly mistaken for the Ram pub on campus (not quite the same thing). Although both Ram(m)s are claimed to be great, this week I decided to get a little cultural and check out the Royal Albert Memorial Museum.

Having done practically no research, I had no idea what to expect – not being a huge fan of museums, this made the day a little more exciting. All I knew was it stayed open Tuesday – Sunday for free to the public. Fantastic. It’s far more enticing to go to a...

Killing Joke to visit Exeter HMV

Legendary London-based rock band Killing Joke will visit Exeter’s HMV on Tuesday 27 October to celebrate the release of their latest album, ‘Pylon’.

The band will be visiting at 5pm to meet fans and sign copies of the new LP – ‘Plyon’, which isn't designed to accompany a quiet night at home in front of the fire. Pylon is very much music as ritual - raw, uncompromising and precisely-targeted lyrically, for all rock and metal fans.

Jaz Coleman, Geordie, Youth & Big Paul reunited in 2008 and are continuing to produce epic music with a headline shows planned for around...

Train commuters treated to music on the move

Commuters on an early evening London Paddington to Exeter St David’s train were treated to a surprise series of mini concerts in each of the coaches.

Three of the UK’s top woodwind players entertained train travellers on the GWR service with a varied selection of works to publicise the Two Moors Festival which begins on Thursday (October 15).

The players, Jordan Black on clarinet, Holly Melia on flute and Jonathan Davies on bassoon, (pictured above) performed a selection of Mozart, a rendition of Danny Boy, Samba Alla Turca and even delivered a Charleston with gusto....
