Exeter-based song-writer, Dominic Hudson, has teamed up with Jon McDevitt to release seasonal single 'Father Christmas' breaking away from the Christmas cliché.

From creating the theme tune to the Channel 5 series ‘A Different Life’ to selling 2000 unsigned albums with his original band Geist, McDevitt isn’t a complete stranger to the music industry.

Christmas is coming and, to get in the mood, I headed to Killerton House’s Christmas wonderland.

Picking the Christmas tree has been a tradition in my family since I can remember. Unlike the advent calendar (which is often started late), it is the definitive mark of our Christmas beginning.

The sixteenth annual Exeter School Christmas Concert in aid of the National Trust took place in Exeter Cathedral on Tuesday evening, and as ever, was one of the musical highlights of the year.

A group of Devon based comedians will host an evening of free comedy in Exeter next week as part of a new regular night.

The new coalition of comics are hosting free shows across the South West under the banner 'The Comedy Avengers' and it will include a monthly show at The Hole in the Wall in Exeter on the second Tuesday of every month.

The comics, who perform nationwide on the professional circuit and have won a number of awards between them, offer a variety of styles including props, one liners and musical comedy as well as straightforward stand up.

Semi-Toned crowned champions of national TV sing-off

Exeter’s all-male student a cappella group, Semi-toned, has won the BBC’s national TV singing competition The Choir, Gareth’s Best in Britain.

The University of Exeter students were celebrating last night, when they hit the right note for host Gareth Malone and a panel of expert judges with their renditions of Richard Blackwood’s Anthem of Praise and Señorita by Justin Timberlake.

Reindeer in the city for charity Christmas event

Devon Wildlife Trust will be celebrating Christmas with its popular annual family event at the charity’s Cricklepit Mill, in the heart of Exeter. The converted medieval mill and garden will be open from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 11 December for the event. Board Members of Rolle Exmouth Ltd (REL) last week said goodbye to the college campus they had fought tirelessly to preserve for future generations.

Following a six-year battle to retain the site for education, training, business incubation and community use, REL had to admit defeat when the entire Rolle campus was sold by Plymouth University to Exeter Deaf Academy (EDA).
